Study Abroad Programme
NDIM offers its students the option to pursue International study tours. Students can choose to study in international universities for a specified time. The students learn directly from the foreign faculty of the University they are visiting, attend classroom lectures, visit top companies of the host country, interact with senior executives and also enjoy through various recreational activities.
The Programme is custom designed to suit our students, enhance their learning and experience businesses in other countries.
Euro Tour 2019
In Aug 2019, a study tour to four European countries was organised for NDIM students to help them understand and appreciate the Global business environment. The trip was a blend of learning, plant visits and cultural integration across Netherlands, Belgium, France & Switzerland.
Students visited the United Nations office in Geneva and UNESCO in Paris to understand the functioning of these major organizations and the important role that they play in maintaining peace, promoting dialogues between countries and their impact on Global economy and business. Students also visited the European Parliament in Brussels and attended a lecture on the functioning of different verticals of the European Union. A detail discussion was done on Brexit and its impact on Britain and the rest of the European Union.
On the way to Paris from Belgium, students visited the Coca-Cola plant at Antwerp, to understand the nitty-gritty of manufacturing and bottling of one of the world’s most popular soft drink. Students also learnt about Coco-Cola’s recycling and environment friendly initiatives. Class-room learning at the Geneva School of Diplomacy & International Relations was also much appreciated.
Student’s understanding of the European cultural heritage and industry was further enhanced by their visits to Dutch villages, Chocolate manufacturing facility in Brussels, the world’s largest art museum Louvre in Paris, Heineken corporate center in Amsterdam, Eiffel tower and Euro Disney.
Euro Tour 2018
NDIM students and faculty went for a global immersion programme across Germany, Austria and Czech Republic in October 2018.
The basic objective of the programme was to enable students to learn from International faculty and Global business executives. The programme provided an excellent opportunity to understand and ask candid questions about the growth, strategy and operations of multi-national businesses navigating through cultural differences. The programme also involved active interaction with local communities so that students can absorb the local culture and form professional relationships with their classmates from other countries.
Students attended knowledge sessions at FOM University (Germany’s largest private University) on Lean Management. The approach of the faculty and the pedagogy generated lot of learning for the students.
The study tour involved a mix of class-room learning and visits to places like the BMW manufacturing plant in Germany, Allianz Arena, Cultural heritage spots and Oktober fest. The company visits enabled students to understand the practical application of the concepts that they have learned in their PGDM and observe, imbibe & apply quality consciousness of a Global level in their future business endeavours.
The students came back with a much better understanding of the European culture and a wonderful insight into Business best practices in Europe.
Euro Tour 2017
NDIM students went for a Global education programme to Europe in July 2017.
The Programme consisted of Case Analysis Workshops in Germany, Visits to many top MNC’s manufacturing units & corporate offices and tours to Cultural and Heritage sites. Our students visited the Port of Rotterdam, the largest port in Europe and got insights into 120 Industrial companies and the processes involved in the massive port trade. Some of the other destinations included the Royal Flora Holland, world’s largest flower auction market, Rijks Museum, one of the world’s most renowned art museums in Amsterdam, Zollverein Coal Mine (UNESCO world heritage site) Industrial Monument in Germany, European Parliament in Brussels, Coca-Cola Plant at Antwerp, Townhall in Brusells, Zaanse Schan, a traditional windmill village in Netherlands and Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower, Notre- Dame, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame Chapel in Paris. The entire programme was a great learning opportunity for students in the area of Cross-Cultural Management, International Marketing, European History, Supply Chain Management, Leadership and Time Management Skills.
Singapore and Malaysia 2014
A team of NDIMites went for a one week educational tour to Singapore and Malaysia. The educational excursion involved a visit to MDIS (Singapore’s oldest not for profit institute) where the faculty briefed our students about the business culture and entrepreneurship opportunities in Singapore. Visits to various other places like Universal studios, Tiger factory, Sentosa Island, Marina Bay, Singapore Aquarium, Giant Flyer gave immense insights into the cultural and business heritage of the Country. Singapore’s cleanliness and law abiding attitude of its citizens, also helped our students become more aware and responsible citizens of India. Amidst the organized simplicity of Singapore, students were also taken to Malaysia.
In contrast to Singapore, the crowded cities of Malaysia gave them many occasions to experience different cuisines, identify business opportunities, study various market segments and demands of a diverse population. This experience helped the students appreciate the role cross cultural nuances play in success of global businesses. The students visited China town, Chocolate Factory, Twin Towers, Batu Caves, KL tower & Bukit Bintang for a better understanding of Business in Malaysia, its retail market, consumer dynamics and the changing tastes and preferences of customers across the globe. The entire educational tour accomplished the objectives of providing a great platform for enhancing cross cultural learning, appreciating global business dynamics and identifying business opportunities in unfamiliar economic environments in foreign countries.
England Study Tour 2013
NDIM Students and faculty went for a two-week Summer Programme to Oxford, UK in 2013. The students attended classes focussed on Global Business Management; International Strategy: How to achieve competitive advantage from an international perspective; International Marketing and Globalisation: What are the aspects of International Marketing and its benefits in Global Business; Leadership Management and HR Aspects: Importance of Leadership management and Motivation tools in Global Business from HR perspective; Corporate Social Responsibility and Climate Change.
Some of the Case Study workshops attended by students covered cases such as LG Electronics: Global Strategy in emerging markets, Cadbury Schweppes in Poland- A developing market; Kellogg Building a better work place though Motivation and Mexico, Mitsubishi and the Gray Whale: A case study of law, ethics, and environmental issues in International Business.
In addition to class room learning, students visited the BMW Plant and Bank of England for practical insights into the Auto and Financial Industry in England. The students also enjoyed a guided tour of London and the Pitt Rivers Museum.
The programme involved interaction with other like minded international students and historic walks in the beautiful city of Oxford, around the ancient Colleges, the small back lanes and the incredible museums. The City had an abundance of activities, including numerous Theatres, Restaurants, University Parks and many more. Visit to the eclectic Cowley Road with its vast array of different shops and home of the majority of students staying in Oxford offered unique insights into the educational historic city of Oxford.
The study trip provided rich global exposure full of Academic, Business, International and Cross cultural learning for the students.
